Hermosa Beach is the smallest beachfront city (1.43 square feet) and is bordered by Manhattan Beach to the north and Redondo Beach to the south and east. The city’s motto is “The Best Little Beach City.” Hermosa means “beautiful” in Spanish and this beach sure lives up to its name! The city’s beach is popular for sunning, playing, paddle boarding, surfing, cycling, running and of course, beach volleyball (it has 71 beach volleyball nets along the Strand). In addition, it has an expansive pier complete with shops, restaurants and businesses to keep every beach goer happy! Hermosa Beach also has the only skateboard park in the South Bay! Fun Fact: The summer house used in the 1990’s popular TV show “Beverly Hills 90210” is located on the Strand at the very north end of Hermosa Beach before the stairs up to the Manhattan Beach Strand. Additionally, if you take a “La La Land” movie tour, you’ll for sure end up in Hermosa Beach! The famous Lighthouse Café and the pier were scenes in the movie!
